WITH A RATING OF 89 PERCENT IN THE SECOND PHASE EVALUATION IN 2009, the fisheries program of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) was awarded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) as the country's only Center of Excellence (COE) in fisheries. Three other CLSU programs were also rated by CHEd as COE namely: agriculture (95.81 percent), agricultural engineering (84.84 percent) and veterinary medicine (91.2 percent) putting CLSU in the short list of four state universities nationwide with four or more COE. the COE status is given to higher education institutions (HEI) which have demostrated highest level of standards in areas of instruction, research, extension and production including student services. as COE, CLSU will assist other institutions in the said four programs and is expected to creat great impact on the lives of its stakeholders. Moreover, due to the excellent institutional profile, instruction, physical facilities, research and extension and resource generation of its College of Agriculture and Fisheries, CLSU was earlier designated by CHEd as National University College of Agriculture and Fisheries. CLSU also retained its status as Center of Development in Biology and chemistry.
