CF – Graduate Students Partake in Wednesday Fisheries Seminar Series (WeFFS)

The Graduate students from the Department of Aquaculture served as resource speakers for the Wednesday Fisheries Seminar Series (WeFFS) held at the College of Fisheries (CF), Central Luzon State University (CLSU), on the 1st semester of the school year 2019-2020.

The WeFFS is a semestral activity organized by Ichthyological Society (IS), a college-based organization that aims to update the graduate and undergraduate students with the researches, technologies, and development in the fisheries science.

Ten graduate students (8 M.Sc. and 2 Ph.D. in Aquaculture) presented their undergraduate thesis, case studies, and research papers. In the said activity, the topics presented include prospect of tilapia culture relative to rising temperature (Aldwin Suarez), microplastic in aquaculture (Queenie Bilugan), impact assessment of invasive species in aquaculture (Danica May Lawagan), bioremediation (Niko Macaraeg and Cherry Ann Kindipan), effect of total dissolved solids to primary productivity (Aubrey Belingon), fish parasites identification (Aries Paul  Padron), grouper fry production (Esobel Jaen) and zooplankton composition and productivity (Arlene Avillanosa).

The activity of the graduate students to present a paper orally was a partial requirement of the course AQ799 (Seminar) under the supervision of Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo.  The oral presentation was attended by undergraduate and graduate students and faculty and staff of CF-CLSU.
